ANFASA: Academic and Non-Fiction Authors of South Africa

ANFASA aims to allow academic and non-fiction writers to have a voice and present their thoughts to the public. The organization is a pioneer in this niche in South Africa and helps young authors to promote their works.

 

Their support system includes many grants to motivate writers. For example, in 2017, they had 24 grants for South African authors. With the support of Royal Norwegian Embassy, from the starting of this organization, they have awarded 90 writers.

The Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA)

This organization provides events for the professional growth, resources and networking opportunities for the authors. So, they can exchange ideas and make use of different workshops that are provided on the regular basis. TAA also motivates campuses and other enterprises to create boot camps, grant writing seminars, writers' collectives, etc.

 

They have two types of grants. Let’s consider each of them.

 

  • Contract Review Grants. It is available for those who have contracts for scholarly work.

  • Publication Grants. This grant covers expenses related to the text writing, article or journal publication.

  • Senior Fulbright Award.  Such awards are accessible in 140 different countries.

Such  hosts a national conference for all leaders to share news and grow together. They have many book and science journalism awards for the proactive writers.
